CFDEM®coupling - User Forum

Hi everyone,

recently there were some posts concerning the compatibility with the latest OF.
Finally I had time to take a look at the compilation issues.
The following changes in some options files should get the compilation, although some warnings remain.
This is a workaround until it gets released.

In applications/solvers/cfdemSolverPiso/Make/options and cfdemSolverPisoScalar/Make/options add the following lines:
In EXE_INC =
-I$(LIB_SRC)/meshTools/lnInclude

In EXE_LIBS =
-lmeshTools

I am wondering if anyone compares the implementation of gas-solids coupling in these two codes. I got quite different results for the same problem. Attached is a snapshot comparing the two simulations. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm running a simulation with CFDEM 2.7.1 to model particle fluidization in a cylinder fluidized bed. The bed dimensions are: 15 cm diameter and 22.5 cm tall. In my fluidized bed, I have near 600,000 particles (particle size 1.5 mm diameter). Two runs were setup with 32 and 64 CPUs. The computation is really slow in either 32 or 64 CPU cases. I checked the log file and found out the problem is in the coupling process between OpenFOAM and LIGGGHTS. In each coupling, it approximately takes more than 10 minutes to finish. Is it normal in this situation?

I am still working on a coupled ring shear test and I am struggeling with the pressure in the fluid. Does anybody know how to implement a hydrostatic pressure in the fluid phase? By the way, I am using the PisoSolver.

Hi everybody,

I have just started recently working with CFDEM, and I am still not very familiar with openFoam requirements. I am trying to run a very simple case and was hoping to get some advice on which solver ( tutorial example) would be the most suitable for my case.

The case I am running is: powder flow through an orifice (hopper discharge) into :

1- Open box .
2- Small closed box, where pressure increases inside the box during powder flow.
3- Powder flow under vacuum.

Hello,
right now, I have my problems to compile CFDEM.
Liggght compiles without any problems but CFDEM makes problems.
It says that c3po is missing. I have checked the path and in deed, it is missing. I have downloaded CFDEM newly, but there it is also missing.

I have attatched the log files from cfdemSysTest, cfdemCompLIG and cfdemCompCFDEM.

I hope someone can help me.

I've compiled OpenFOAM-2.3.1 and LIGGGHTS without much problem, well, LIGGGHTS gives this output at the end which I don't understand:

Please provide the libraries to be compiled in the //home/alpha/CFDEM/CFDEMcoupling-PUBLIC-2.3.1/src/lagrangian/cfdemParticle/etc/library-list.txt file.

Hello, i have a problem when i run my own CFDEM case in a 8-core machine but i have no problems running the case in a 4-core machine. Both pc's has the same Ubuntu, LIGGGHTS, OpenFOAM and CFDEM versions. (I installed all the software in the same way).
