Error accurred in parallel in cluster

Submitted by wangshuai on Mon, 03/23/2015 - 01:22

I have installed gcc4.7.0, openmpi-1.6.5 and LIGGGGHTS-3.1.0, OpenFOAM-2.3.1, CFDEM-2.3.1. When I test under OpenFOAM and under LIGGGHTS, it works well. However, when I want to test ErgunTestMPI under CFDEM, some errors occur like below:

Create time
Create mesh for time = 0
Reading field p

Reading physical velocity field U
Note: only if voidfraction at boundary is 1, U is superficial velocity!!!

Reading momentum exchange field Ksl

Reading voidfraction field voidfraction = (Vgas/Vparticle)

Creating dummy density field rho

Mesh coupling between Liggghts and OpenFoam

Submitted by RobertG on Mon, 03/16/2015 - 11:24

I'm trying to couple an Liggghts simulation based on the Continuous Blending Mixer Tutorial, with an CFD OpenFoam Simulation.
Because of the distanz between the two screws (< 2r), it is problematic to implement the rotation of the of the screws with dynamicMeshing in OpenFoam.
It might be possible, to solve this problem with Immersed Boundary Methodes (IBM) in OpenFoam. That means the two screws-STL-Files are implementated as boundrycondtition. That way, it is possible to use the same mesh with out changing it.

Problem with new Solver

Submitted by elham.nasiri on Wed, 03/11/2015 - 13:14

Hi all
I'm simulating the sediment transport by cfdemSolverInterFoam that I wrote. But I did not succeed yet!
I run a simple channel with a particle box with using this solver. The velocity increased in beginning and end of particle box and the direction of vectors was abnormal(please see the figures in attachments)!
I don't know its reason!

Looking forward to your ideas,
Thanks
Elham

Bug: findcell() can not work properly when using parallel

Submitted by Detian Liu on Mon, 03/09/2015 - 18:02

I found that when we use parallel, in the locate model, it will call for the member function in OpenFOAM-findcells(), it will always return -1, because OpenFOAM only try to search in the first processor. Does anybody met this problem? How do you fix this problem?

Thank you!

Higher particle velocity than fluid velocty

Submitted by Detian Liu on Fri, 03/06/2015 - 03:39

Dear all,
I am a new comer in CFDEM, recently I just used CFDEM to simulate the suspended sediment transport, but I always get some particles' velocity larger than the fluid velocity, it that because the time step of DEM side, or I use a wrong model? And in most of time, how can we decide the time step of the DEM side?
Thank you for your help!
Best Wishes!

my couplingProperties is:

ModelType B; // A or B

couplingInterval 10;//CFD timestep 0.0001, DEM timestep 0.00001

voidFractionModel divided;//centre;//bigParticle;//
