Possibility for change of fluid properties during the coupling process

Submitted by xlibp on Wed, 10/07/2015 - 04:30

Dear CFDEM developers,

I am aware that the fluid property in the CFDEM coupling is constant and defined in ../constant/transportProperties.
Is there any possibility for us to make the fluid properties vary during the interaction process with the particle system? For example, the fluid density becomes larger and larger in the flowing process.

Many thanks for your attention.
Best regards,
Moon

Dear all,
I am simulating interaction of particle and fluid using CFDEMSOlverIB, but it stops here:

Dear all,
I am trying to simulate a sand and water coupling case with the immersed boundary, when i start with CFDEMSolverIB and set momCoupleModels to be off. It tells me:
update Ksl.internalField()

Errors while compiling cfdemSolverPisoScalar

Submitted by RobertG on Mon, 09/28/2015 - 14:32

Hello,
I'm trying to start the packedBedTemp tutorial. But all I get is an error. Maybe some one can help me.
I'm peaty new with CFDEM so the many warnings are not saying me anything, but I believe the interesting part may be this one:

// run_parallel_cfdemSolverPisoScalar_packedBedTemp_CFDDEM //

Compiling CFDEM

Submitted by heliana60 on Mon, 09/14/2015 - 11:07

Hello guys,

I have been having troubles to compile CFDEM in m y computer. I have worked with OpenFOAM for a couple of years, so my OF installation is fine. However, compiling CFDEM doesn't work. I don't know if some libraries are not well adressed or something. (My OF version is 2.3.)
When I compile CFDEM I get the next errors:

CFDEM Coupling

Submitted by naceur on Sun, 09/13/2015 - 14:10

Could any one help me I did all what I can to get it installed
but I did not succeed

LIGGGHTS works very well
OpenFoam or foam-extend-3.1 very well also

But no way to get CFDEM-Coupling be installed

I'm missing some thing for sure but cant tell

Any help will be great in order to make a decision to continue or drop this and try other things

At the stage where I'm know in trying to understanding the mechanics of LIGGGHTS and OpenFoam interplay

I'm not able to know why I'm having those errors

Interpolation of pressure gradient

Submitted by jhofman on Fri, 09/11/2015 - 18:07

Hi!

I recently started using CFDEMSolverPiso and I noticed something about the implementation of the fluid pressure gradient.

In gradPForce.C the gradient is calculated explicitly, followed by a cellPoint interpolation to the particle position (if interpolation is turned on), however, this gradient is calculated according to the logic of OpenFOAM (Gauss linear interpolation) which means:

if we have a pressure like this:
0 | 0 | 100 | 0 | 0

we obtain a gradient like this:
0 | 50 | 0 | -50 | 0

Particle-particle heat conduction and fluid velocity

Submitted by Luton on Thu, 08/27/2015 - 22:35

Hello all,

I am trying to study how the fluid flow velocity could influence (decrease) the temperature of particles.

I found some information about particle-particle and fluid-particle heat transfer but in my case I disregard the temperature of fluid. I only need the flow velocity as a parameter and how this parameter could change the temperature of the particle, I also need this parameter in the future for other purposes.
