CFDEM installation

Submitted by nikros on Thu, 12/31/2015 - 04:46

Hello to everybody.
Sorry for many questions but i'm working alone and don't have anyone else to help me. I follow the instruction in the http://www.cfdem.com/system/files/githubaccess_public.pdf

I have OpenFoam installed on my computer and installation of LIGGGHTS was passed smoothly.
But when i'm trying to install CFDEM "cfdemCompCFDEM" (after passing a few time) an error message appears:

.bashrc environment variables

Hello. I'm a new user of CFDEM. I follow the instructions in the githubaccess_public.pdf files.
After setting the environment variables in my .bashrc file I checked it by cfdemSysTest

The problems were:
valid:NO critical:yes - $CFDEM_LPP_DIR = /home/asorkin/LIGGGHTS/mylpp/src does not exist
and
valid:NO critical:no - $C3PO_SRC_DIR = /home/asorkin/CFDEM/CFDEMcoupling-PUBLIC-/src/c3po does not exist

Hi Everybody,

Unable to open document cfdemSolverPiso_ErgunTestMPI.eps

Submitted by Dina on Wed, 12/16/2015 - 22:07

Hello CFDEM forum,

I'm new in with CFDEM, and i'm facing the same problems as discussed in CFDEM Compiling Problems. I have this error:

Unable to open document
file:///home/dina/CFDEM/CFDEMcoupling-PUBLIC-2.3.1/tutorials/cfdemSolverPiso/ErgunTestMPI_cgs/CFD/octave/cfdemSolverPiso_ErgunTestMPI.eps

Someone posted to change the path values, so I looked at the file "totalPressureDrop.m" in /tutorials/cfdemSolverPiso/ErgunTestMPI_cgs/CFD/octave/ and I have this path values

%path = '../probes/0/p'; % 2.1.x
path = '../postProcessing/probes/0/p'; % 2.2.x

OpenFOAM installation as per CFDEMcoupling-PUBLIC/src/lagrangian/cfdemParticle/cfdTools/versionInfo.H version

Submitted by rahulsoni on Wed, 12/16/2015 - 07:08

The file CFDEMcoupling-PUBLIC/src/lagrangian/cfdemParticle/cfdTools/versionInfo.H mentions a particular version of OpenFOAM compatible to the CFDEMCoupling-PUBLIC. The version mentioned is "OFversion="2.3.x-commit-4d6f4a3115ff76ec4154c580eb041bc95ba4ec09":"
Can anyone tell me where to find in git this particular version and how to install it.

compressibleMultiphaseInterFoam and cfdem

Submitted by mohsen_ba65 on Mon, 12/14/2015 - 19:36

Hi,

I am trying to write a new solver to couple the compressibleMultiphaseInterFoam and LIGGGHTS, using the cfdemSolverPiso solver.
I want to know forces on the particle and not to have the effect of particles on the flow. So the flow should be solved independent of the presence of particles.
I created a solver and it is compiled successfully. The problem is when I run the solver I get the following error.

LIGGGHTS could not find property to write data from calling program to.

Hello everyone

Since few days I am trying to install and run CFDEM coupling. After several troubleshooting and help of Christian Richter. I managed to install CFDEM, OF and LIGGGHTS properly and run the tutorials partially. When I run tutorial cfdemSolverPisoScalar/packedBedTemp then I get peculiar errors related to LIGGGHTS. The log file for this run is attached. The part of terminal output is pasted below.
[Anyone please help me hint to get rid of the issue]

Similar error I am getting for the cases cfdemSolverIB/twoSpheresGlowinskiMPI, cfdemSolverPiso/ErgunTestMPI

youndsModulus peratomtype change cause nr particles change in first timestep

Submitted by zhang on Tue, 12/01/2015 - 10:10

Dear all
I have some questions when run my cases.Firstly, the "nr particles" sometimes decrease or sometimes turn to 0 immediately at some timestep, and this often cause divergence of my case. And I try to increase youndsModulus peratomtype, but I found this method might change the nr particles in the first timestep. How can I solve the problem? If anyone can give me some advices ,I would very very appreciate. Thanks

Dynamic mesh

Submitted by mikekaff on Tue, 12/01/2015 - 10:04

Good morning to everyone,
I am trying to create a dynamic mesh around some particles sedimenting inside a container of constant volume. My problem is that I cannot find out what kind of scalar I can insert for "field" in the DynamicMeshDict file.
Please help me, I am in a great rush!

Zanke turbulent lift force

Submitted by ali_atrian on Tue, 12/01/2015 - 07:35

hi everybody
i am simulating what "Klemens Gruber" has done to model sediment bed load tranportation
(http://www.jku.at/itp/content/e61131/e111072/e112573/e196534/e196561)
i need to include a turbulent lift model named "Zanke" lift model (which is necessary for packed particles)
does anyone know whether CFDEM has such a turbulent lift force or not?
and if not , where can i find the code?
i myself wrote its code but it seems does not work well!
