Particles ignoring servo wall in CFDEM

Submitted by livioys on Wed, 03/09/2016 - 17:41

Hi, everyone

I am having this problem with the servo wall, the particles are crossing the wall like if it was not there. I attached a picture to illustrate the problem, and also the log file. I basically modified the example on cfdemSolverPisoScalar with a smaller box and particles, and fluid flow in the x-direction.

The code works on LIGGGHTS but I don't know if I need any specific modification for CFDEM.
I really appreciate any help you can provide,
Livio

OpenFOAM and LIGGGHTS not running together

Submitted by Joel Martis on Tue, 03/08/2016 - 15:49

Hello all,

I have simulated heat transfer in a granular assembly in LIGGGHTS.
I have also simulated a flow field separately in OpenFOAM

However, when I run both of them using cfdemSolverPisoScalar, I seem to be getting only LIGGGHTS output. Is this because of the run time or the time step, or is there more to it?

Joel

Group particles during CFD/DEM

Submitted by LSSTHMS on Mon, 03/07/2016 - 08:15

Dear all,

I want to use fix massflow/mesh to delete a certain type of particles passing a stl surface in CFD-DEM coupling. I use group to define the group-ID.

The problem is the group command does not work and fix massflow/mesh deletes all particles. Is it possible to dynamics group particle in CFD-DEM? Or it is my setting problem.

Thank you for any help.

Compiling error for CFDEM on CentOS 7

Submitted by vkoppejan on Sun, 02/28/2016 - 20:50

Hi all,

I'm trying to compile CFDEM on CentOS 7 (in an OpenNebula VM).

I've compiled OF 30x and LIGGGHTs from source and they are working.

I'm using additionalLibs_30x and I've adapted the OFversion.H file

Error appears to be due to mpi version / location.

MPI is load though module load, which is load through ~/.bashrc ("module load mpi/openmpi-x86_64").

I think I have to adapt the makefile for the mpi locations and libs. Any tips on this?

Error in running Test Case

Hello all,

I ran the test case for cfdemSolverPisoScalar, and it ran fine till the last minute where the following error popped up:

Lift & Drag coefficient calculation

Submitted by bnaar on Thu, 02/18/2016 - 14:15

Dear all,

I have a solid body within pipe flow and I am interested in determining the lift and drag coefficient of the solid body. These coefficients are determined using the drag and lift forces, so actually I want to determine those!

As a solver I use the IBcfdemsolver (as I include big particles).
