Hi, everyone!

problem in making MultiscaleSolvrs

Submitted by alireza.sh on Sat, 12/08/2018 - 18:21

Dear users
I try to make the MultiscaleSolver which needs LIGGHTS-2.4.4 and OPENFOAM-2.1.1. I got MultiscaleSolver package from:
And also the OpenFOAM-2.1.1 is installed in my machine.
In myCFDEM folder there is LIGHHHTs-2.4.4 and i try to install it by its guide but i receive some error affter using this commands:
“make fedora_fpic”
“make makelib”

LBM compared to CFD coupling

Submitted by Nathan on Thu, 12/06/2018 - 03:24

Dear all,

Coupling LBM with DEM is an interesting approach which has been initiated by CFDEM project led by Phillipe for several years. I have not gone deeply into this method, but one of my first questions is why this method has not been used and developed much in comparison to CFD-DEM coupling. There should be some limitations of LBM-DEM coupling that has hampered it from wider application.

I am looking forward to discussion and sharing experience of this method, which would be very helpful to oncoming users.

Thank you,

Regards

restart file not built

Submitted by Lowered on Tue, 11/27/2018 - 16:16

Hello,

actually I wanted to modify some geometry in my case. To perform the calcualtion, it is necessary to create a new restart file.
This should be automatically done by Allrun.sh if liggghts.restart does not exist.
But this doesn't happen.
I also tried to run ErgunTestMPI tutorial without liggghts.restart file. This also doesn't work.

Using CFDEM 3.8 and OF 5.x

Running cases with existing restart file is working.

What is the right place to look for?

Update CFDEMcoupling, LIGGGHTS and OpenFOAM

Submitted by yesaswi92 on Wed, 11/14/2018 - 16:56

Hi,

I'm new to UNIX environment and using git commands. I'm trying to figure out how to update/upgrade the old version of CFDEMcoupling using git pull, command.

Can someone confirm me if the following is the approach:
1. In OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-5.x
git pull
git checkout 538044ac05c4672b37c7df607dca1116fa88df88
./Allwmake

2. In LIGGGHTS/LIGGGHTS-PUBLIC
git pull

particles begin to vanish from CFD part

Submitted by tala on Wed, 11/14/2018 - 15:27

Dear colleagues
I have developed a new CFDEM solver, when coupling starts particles begin to vanish from CFD part, I mean Lagrangian particles, that could be loaded to Paraview from particle cloud. When the run ends up, more than half of particles are lost. But from DEM part particles could be seen and there is no problem, no DEM particle have left the domain. What may be the cause of this phenomenon? Any help is appreciated.
Talat,
