Changes of ¨Cohesive Energy Density¨ with Temperature during the simulation

Submitted by e.derakhshani on Mon, 07/30/2018 - 16:20

Dear everyone,

I am trying to model the litter bed drying process in a poultry house. So I would like to dynamically link the temperature of litter bed into the cohesive mode and update the Cohesive Energy Density based on the average temperature of all particles during the CFDEM simulation. Hence, I have added the following lines into my code and I am able to determine the average particle temperatures during the simulation.

Problems setting particle temperatures in packedBedTemp

Submitted by Evan.J on Sun, 07/29/2018 - 10:00

Hello, I am working on CFDEM with heat transfer by modifying the cfdemSolverPisoScalar/packedBedTemp tutorial.

I have noticed at least three other posts which seem to express the same problems - none of which are answered. This seems like basic heat transfer functionality, so hopefully the DCS computing team can set the record straight. Three related posts:

Who still has CFDEM 3.2?

Submitted by xiuhan on Fri, 07/27/2018 - 15:29

Dear all,

I am working with LIGGGHTS 3.2.0 for long time in my cave.... didn't notice CFDEM 3.2 is not there any more.
I saw in the github the oldest version of CFDEM is 3.4.0.
SO I want to ask who still have CFDEM 3.2.0? I cannot find it. Since I must work with LIGGGHTS 3.2.0 because I modified a lot of codes in it.
Would be really appreciated if somebody can send me a copy of CFDEM 3.2.0.
my email is xuelongcao@sina.com

Many thanks in advance!

cfdemSolverPISO constant inserting particle while CFD calculation

Submitted by Donald Trump on Thu, 07/26/2018 - 19:03

Dear all, I wanted to simulate the constantly inserting particles interaction with the gas flow.
However, at cfdemSolverPISO, when you use fix ID group-ID couple/cfd couple_every N mpi, it only says the CFD COUPLING was established, but the solver will not go to do the CFD calculation, like solve the velocity and other fluid field.
Once the DEM steps were done, and CFD process began to calculate the fluid field, I will not insert any particles then.
How can I make this happen if I still need to insert particles when the openfoam was called to solve the fluid field?

Some confusion about cfdemSolverPisoSTM

Dear every one

About the example of the cfdemSolverPisoSTM solver. I have some confusion about scalar C. I have not found it transport equation in the source code about C. How do I modify the transport equation for different scalars? Would someone know that?

Thank's in advance

Particle Insertion against time step

Submitted by shahab.zaman on Tue, 07/24/2018 - 16:37

Dear all,
I am working on some changes in the periodicChannel tutorial to simulate my own case. One of the changes is related to the particle insertion which I want to do it against timestep but now all particles are located by "in.liggghts_init" file. The only thing that I found was 1-Way Flow Coupling in Liggghts tutorial which has used following command to define the particle insertion against timestep.

"command not found" error

Hello all,

I'm very new to both the CFDEM project and Ubuntu. Now I'm trying to get the CFDEM working on my computer.
I was able to follow the instructions:
https://www.cfdem.com/media/CFDEM/docu/CFDEMcoupling_Manual.html#id2
However, when I get to foamSystemCheck, I get the error message ;

foamSystemCheck: command not found
