interFoam/rasInterFoam solver for CFDEM

Submitted by keepfit on Wed, 09/19/2012 - 18:03

Hallo Christoph,

I intend to couple multiphase flow using VOF method (e.g. atmosphere and water) with Liggghts. It seems that CFDEM only supports single phase flow right now. So i would give a try to make a rasInterFoam solver with CFDEMcoupling. Is there some useful papers or tips to do this?

Thanks.

Cheers, David.

CFDEM installation version

Submitted by rfbrpr on Tue, 09/18/2012 - 17:28

Hello:

When I use the git command:

git clone git://github.com/CFDEMproject/CFDEMcoupling-PUBLIC.git CFDEMcoupling-PUBLIC-$WM_PROJECT_VERSION

After downloading I obtain the following directory:
CFDEM-coupling-2.1.1

This means that the version I downloaded is 2.1.1? In this case how could I dowload the latest version since the git manual does not ask me the version that I wish to download (version 2.4.4)?

Cheers

Rafael

Hi to all
I have installed CFDEMcoupling and LIGGGHTS according to procedure in "githubAccess_public.pdf" . finally it was compiled and it seems to be succeed becoase the CFDEM tutorials run properly. But when I want to run an example in LIGGGHTS it does not work and the message is:

The program 'liggghts' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
apt-get install liggghts

I type :liggghts

Hi
I have tryed to install CFDEMcoupling and LIGGGHTS according to procidure in "githubAccess_public.pdf" . But when I check the settings by typing "cfdemSysTest" in terminal, Results printed as:

couple to OF_VERSION=2.1.x

check if paths are set correctly

Settling tutorial test

Submitted by rfbrpr on Sat, 09/01/2012 - 17:50

Dear All:

I run the settiling test and compared the numerical results and the analytical provided in the Octave code. The results agree well in this case, but if I increase the density of the fluid, for example 1000, the results differ in a 10% (logically I increase the density of the fluid to 1000 in the octave code). Do you know what is the reason of the divergence.

Particle agglomeration in front of processor patch in parallel run

Submitted by ulrich on Tue, 08/28/2012 - 14:33

Hi,
I have a problem running some cases in parallel with cfdemSolverPiso. I distributed particles in a tube and run the case on 8 mesh partitions by a simple domain partitioning along the cylinder axis. The particles show an unphysical behavior when they pass the processor patch. They agglomerate before the processor patch. Any ideas what might be wrong in my case-setup? I run this case with the latest Liggghts version.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Ulrich
