one-way coupling, cfdemSolverIB

Submitted by paulaalejandrayo on Tue, 03/21/2017 - 18:20

Hello, I am sorry if it is obvious but I cannot find an answer. I want to run a simulation in which DEM particles feel fluid but fluid do not feel the particles, is that possible? how should I do? I want something like this "One-way coupled simulation of particles flowing into water basin" (http://www.cfdem.com/more-examples) but I cannot find how to implement this. I am using cfdemSolverIB . Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,
Paula

gravity term of fluid in the default 'cfdemSolverPiso'...

Submitted by bhwang on Tue, 03/21/2017 - 02:44

Is there a 'gravity term' in the default 'cfdemSolverPiso'?
Although there is a 'g' file in the ..../CFD/constant/, but it actually not used in the 'cfdemSolverPiso' algorithm
(I found the command of header file (#include readGravitationalAcceralation.H), but the term 'g' is not actually used.)

Thanks for reading my question : )

LIGGGHTS COMPILATION

Submitted by marcelo on Fri, 03/17/2017 - 18:36

I do:
cfdemSysTest

and all are Valid: Yes.

When I will compile LIGGGHTS(R) make:
sudo make clean-all (in /src dir.)

And do: cfdemCompLIG

OBS: some words are in Portuguese.

The terminal show me:

copying patch files for LIGGGHTS if available
cp: impossível obter estado de '/home/cae/CFDEM/CFDEMcoupling-PUBLIC-3.0.x/src/LIGGGHTSpatch/*': Arquivo ou diretório não encontrado

CU triaxial test using CFDEM

Submitted by zhou_yu on Thu, 03/09/2017 - 06:41

Hi there,

I am trying to reproduce the CU triaxial test with CFDEM. There are two problems I am facing with. First, when the specimen undergoes axial compression, the specimen becomes deformed, that means the CFD mesh should change dynamically. Boundary in this case is not fixed. Second, the servo wall in liggghts dose not recognize the pressure from the pore fluid, which means I cant keep the cell pressure stable like the indoor experiments.
Can anyone give me some suggestions? Thanks a lot.

CFDEM-simulation with snappyHexMesh-Mesh

Submitted by Schrader on Mon, 03/06/2017 - 10:31

Hello,
I'm trying to run a simulation with OF 3.0.0 and LIGGGHTS 3.6.0 and CFDEM 3.6.0. The fluid mesh was created by the snappyHexMesh-tool. After a few timesteps I end up with an error, which is shown below. I'm using the snappyHex-Mesh-Tool for the first time. Is it possible that my mesh has a bad quality or is the cfdemSolverPiso not compatible with a mesh created by snappyHexMesh?

error while compiling CFDEM on centos 6.5

Submitted by cupes on Sun, 03/05/2017 - 08:58

Hi there,

I am a newbie of CFDEM. Although I have successfully installed the latest CFDEM on my PC with Ubuntu 16.04, I still cannot install it on our university hpc with centos 6.5. I used gcc-4.9.3 and binutils-2.25.1. The log file of cfdemCompCFDEM shows the following error:
