handle particles continuously go into and out of the domain

Submitted by gelinhan on Thu, 07/06/2017 - 01:32

Hi everyone,

Is CFDEM able to simulate the case when solids are continuously fed and removed from the domain? Like slurry transportation through a fluidized bed? I think the main problem here is the mass conservation of fluid flow field. Cyclic boundary might not be able to do the job since in my case slurry particles interact with fluidized medium and I need fresh slurry to be fed into the domain to keep a constant mass flow rate.

Best,
Linhan

Creat new solver

Hi, I'm new in cfdem. but can compile and develop OpenFOAM code. I wanna create new solver like cfdemSolverPiso. do you have any tutorial about force and source term which we must add to pisoFOAm and create cfdemSolverPiso? my goal is add this source term and force between two phase flow and particle. at first I wanna develop pisoFOAM and create cfdemSolverPiso after that try to develop interFOAM and create cfdemSolverInterFoam.
plz help me to learn force and interaction between fluid and particle. thank you

Installation Failed - Please step by step

Hello.
I'm not a new user of CFDEM, but I'm having huge problems about the installation of the last stable version (that I assume is the 3.6.0 such as LIGGGHTS and is optimized and tested with OpenFOAM 3.x).
Since the beginning I've used an ubuntu 12.04 virtual machine with the version 2.x installed (coupled with LIGGGHTS and OPENFOAM), but the slowness of that virtual machines now has become really disturbing.

Fast compilation of LIGGGHTS and CFDEM

Submitted by JohLoh on Wed, 05/31/2017 - 13:13

Hallo everyone,

I have a question about fast compilation of LIGGGHTS and CFDEM. When I add some code to the LIGGGHTS src file, I can use "make fedora_fpic" and only the changes in the source code are compiled. I can now use the added code in LIGGGHTS simulation and it works fine. But when I want to use the CFDEM coupling, I have to recompile everything to use this added code (cfdemCompCFDEMall). Is there a smarter and faster way to recompile CFDEM?

Cheers

Johannes

CFDEM Compilation problem - Cannot find -llagrangianCFDEM-PUBLIC-3.0.x -llmp_ubuntuVTK6

Submitted by AndresMM on Fri, 05/26/2017 - 10:17

Hi everybody,

I am having problems compiling CFDEM on an Ubuntu 14.04 virtual machine in a server.

- I installed and compiled OpenFOAM-3.0.x(commit from versionH) and LIGGGHTS. Both compiled without errors and I can execute examples for both of them. I compiled LIGGGHTS "on its own" without using the cfdemCompLIG command. The compilation of LIGGGHTS was done using the ubuntuVTK6 makefile. I also changed the $CFDEM_LIGGGHTS_MAKEFILE_NAME to ubuntuVTK6 since I think cfdem uses this field to look for a executable. I linked the VTK libraries where it was necessary.

hello,

does any one know where I can find a copy of the referenced papers:
