dragmodel problem

Submitted by openfoam on Sat, 02/23/2013 - 02:34

I simulate the bubbles move up in the water where bubbles are regarded as the discrete phase. In the default solver, the p field is not include gravity effect. Now I add gravity effect in the p formulation and compile the solver. When I run the simulation wihout drag force, I think the gradP force works fine, but if I add the drag force, bubbles don't move up and their movement become out of order. I don't kown what is wrong with it, It's the solver problem or wrong initial conditions or any other problem?anther problem is that some bubbles can cross the draft tube wall.

Problem running CFDEM Examples

Submitted by abhishek on Thu, 02/21/2013 - 13:45

Hello CFDEM Users,

I tried to install CFDEM on Ubuntu machine. After installing, I didn't manage to run the tutorials. So, I tried to run the following example :
~/CFDEM/CFDEMcoupling-PUBLIC-2.1.0/tutorials/cfdemSolverPiso/settlingTestMPI/CFD

using the command :
mpirun -np 2 cfdemSolverPiso -parallel

and I found the follwoing error :

--> FOAM FATAL ERROR:
bool IPstream::init(int& argc, char**& argv) : attempt to run parallel on 1 processor

Error in running tutorial

Hi,

1. I was able to install cfdem packages along with LIGGGHTS and OpenFOAM 2.1.x. I had no issues during the installation.

2. I was able to run the cfdemSolverIB tutorial. However, I had the following errors running the EurgentestMPI.

Reading momentum exchange field Ksl

Reading voidfraction field voidfraction = (Vgas/Vparticle)

Creating dummy density field rho

Reading particle velocity field Us

Reading/calculating face flux field phi

Coupling Lammps and OpenFOAM

Submitted by nandiga1 on Mon, 01/28/2013 - 19:44

Hello,

Using Lammps, I have understood the dynamics of a chain of beads which are connected to each other, considering the interaction potential between the beads (Lennard-Jones potential + Nonlinear spring potential).
Further, I have developed solvers to implement the ion transport using continuum based models in OpenFOAM. Now, I would like to couple both these solvers.
