Convert CGS unit to SI on Paraview

Submitted by NTT1508 on Tue, 02/03/2015 - 05:06

Hi all,

I am looking for a solution to convert result from CGS unit simulation to SI unit and display on Paraview. I am doing CFDEM coupling in CGS unit. The outcome (dump files of LIGGGHTS and VTK of OpenFOAM) in CGS unit is sometime hard to capture quickly graph due to unfamiliar unit and not consistent to others as well. I think using a scalar or filter might work out. Does anyone has idea or experience on this issue?

Thanks,

Regards,

Nathan,

ParaView Filter for Void-Fraction Estimation

This is a follow-up of the discussion here: http://www.cfdem.com/forums/particle-deposition-structure-help

Short story: to calculate the void-fraction in a given region one needs to take the overlap of the spheres into account. To do this, I've written a ParaView Custom Filter which uses a Monte-Carlo-Integration approach to calculate the real volume of overlapping spheres.

flux.py

Hi all I was wondering, if you could help me out?

I wanted to determine the particle flux using the python script flux.py, which can be found in the LAMMMPS PIZZA directory. Becuase I could not run pizza (I gave up installing toGL) I copied that script and the dump.py script to my /DEM/post folder. Then I let it run by using that comand: python -i flux.py z 0.5 flux.out dump. Note, that "dump" is the inputfile. However, I always end up with the following error:

No source file for ParaView_Reader_for_LIGGGHTS under Windows

Hi Chris,

It seems all the web-links related to the paraview liggghts reader under windows are removed and not available anymore. Appreciate if you could update us with the available web-links or any github page.

Thx
Mahdi

P.S. sorry, the web-site was down that is why it repeated three times.

Post-processing for LIGGGHTS (Ubuntu package)

Submitted by Luton on Wed, 07/23/2014 - 16:20

Hello Everybody,

I have just download the pre-installed LIGGGHTS (Ubuntu 14.04 package) recently, I wanted to familiarize myself with it before installing it from source code.

I was looking at post-processing for a few days now, I installed paraview 4.0.1, but I still couldn't figure out how set the environment and create an alias correctly.

I am very new to all this stuff ( Liggghts and Linux as well). Could some one please give some simple direct command I could follow for post-processing, either for paraview or pizza.py for both would be more grateful of course.

How can I visualize mesh stress over strain?

Submitted by JoshuaP on Tue, 07/22/2014 - 15:37

I have a boxed filled with particles and a mesh moving from top down. In paraview I have the pressure on the mesh as data. Now I want to plot pressure over time or pressure over the z-position of the mesh. More import now is the pressure over z-position. So in the end I wanna have a Strain Stress plot.
thanks

How to create a 3d grid in Paraview

Submitted by subhodhk on Sun, 07/06/2014 - 19:35

Hi

I ran a mixing simulation in Liggghts and now I am trying to analyze the results using Paraview. I want to create a 3d grid in Paraview (please see attached pictures) and want to analyze particle velocities inside each of the boxes of the grid. This can be easily done in EDEM using 'grid bin group'. I was wondering if there was something similar in Paraview. If not, then is there another way to do such analysis?

Thanks.
