Modelling Repeated Load Triaxial Test.

Submitted by rsharma on Fri, 03/05/2021 - 20:44

I have been trying to model repeated load triaxial test. It's a stress-controlled test. I was able to match the loading curve but during unloading force is suddenly dropping to lowest levels. I experimented with different kp values for top servo wall and defining several unloading target levels but I did not get desirable result.
I am attaching some of the pictures for reference. Please let me know if I can do something to achieve the proper result.

Superquadric Parallell

Submitted by hamedhoori on Thu, 03/04/2021 - 13:35

Hello everyone, I'm using the latest version of LIGGGHTS and atom style superquadric on a university cluster. I want to do parallel computing of superquadric but it seems like that there is no difference in computational time for using 4 or 8 or 12 cores of CPU at all.

I wanted to ask if there is some rule for distributing CPUs for a simulation or some kind of lack of mpi library for parallel computing of superquadric atom_style?
I appreciate any helpand tips regarding this issue.
Thanks in advance, Hamed

Radial Servo

Submitted by mross19 on Wed, 03/03/2021 - 03:04

Hello,

I have a cylindrical mold and wish to simulate isostatic compaction of a powder within the mold. Is it possible to use the mesh/surface/stress/servo command to apply a force in a radial direction, such that the force is applied to the center of the mold?

Thanks

Modeling of cubic or cylindrical particles

Submitted by Mateus Kostka on Mon, 03/01/2021 - 08:28

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

is it possible to create cubic or cylindrical particles and to assign to them the hertzian contact model with friction?

I would like to model the movement of a block or cylinder along a defined way and to analyze the velocity during this movement.

Best regards and thank you

Liquid bridge model question: units and percentages

Submitted by smshenou on Sat, 02/27/2021 - 02:31

I'm trying to simulate a powder scraper to analyze the effects of moisture content by using the easo/capillary/viscous model. When I want to have a liquid content of 2% should I input 0.02 or 2.0? Another question: will my output files output forces as Newtons or dynes if I am using cgs units?

KE for Multispere particle

Submitted by Rahul Kumar on Fri, 02/26/2021 - 07:16

Hi

I was doing am impact simulation with multi-sphere particle(see figure below). I wanted a plot of Kinetic energy for each multi-sphere particle and for that I have used the following command

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
compute ke_clump all ke/multisphere
dump dmp all custom/vtk ${nstep} post/particle_*.vtk id type mol x y z ix iy iz vx vy vz fx fy fz omegax omegay omegaz radius c_overlap c_ke_clump
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
