Modeling of cubic or cylindrical particles

Submitted by Mateus Kostka on Mon, 03/01/2021 - 08:28

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

is it possible to create cubic or cylindrical particles and to assign to them the hertzian contact model with friction?

I would like to model the movement of a block or cylinder along a defined way and to analyze the velocity during this movement.

Best regards and thank you

Liquid bridge model question: units and percentages

Submitted by smshenou on Sat, 02/27/2021 - 02:31

I'm trying to simulate a powder scraper to analyze the effects of moisture content by using the easo/capillary/viscous model. When I want to have a liquid content of 2% should I input 0.02 or 2.0? Another question: will my output files output forces as Newtons or dynes if I am using cgs units?

KE for Multispere particle

Hi

I was doing am impact simulation with multi-sphere particle(see figure below). I wanted a plot of Kinetic energy for each multi-sphere particle and for that I have used the following command

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
compute ke_clump all ke/multisphere
dump dmp all custom/vtk ${nstep} post/particle_*.vtk id type mol x y z ix iy iz vx vy vz fx fy fz omegax omegay omegaz radius c_overlap c_ke_clump

Consideration of Diffusion

Submitted by Mateus Kostka on Thu, 02/25/2021 - 17:12

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I plan to consider diffusion processes in Liggghts public to simulate sintering processes.

My idea is to modify the hertzian contact model. Is it possible to adjust this model with diffusion equations.

Does already exist a open source code to consider diffusion in Liggghts Public?

Best regards an thank you

LIGGGHTS - Vibration Effect on Particles Stuck on Wall

Submitted by egebat7 on Wed, 02/24/2021 - 15:40

I am trying to simulate an ultrasound vibration effect on stuck particles on wall by using "fix move all move/mesh mesh cad1 wiggle" command. I know this line is not creating a wave vibration but still I would like to see if "wiggle" command can remove the particles from the wall if I use low amplitude with very high frequency. I use cohesion model to stick particles on the wall.

Set timing to drop particles

Submitted by laudari on Thu, 02/18/2021 - 06:35

Hello liggghts forum,

Is it possible to set timing while dropping particles? I mean I want to drop particle A1, and after few seconds I want to drop particle A2 and so on.

Right now I am using this command,
fix ins nve_group insert/pack seed 32452867 distributiontemplate pdd1 insert_every 1 overlapcheck yes all_in yes particles_in_region 1 region bc

LIGGGHTS compile on cluster RedHat

Submitted by hamedhoori on Thu, 02/11/2021 - 13:00

Hi everyone I'm trying to compile liggghts on my university's cluster without VTK.
I turned off the USE_VTK in the Makefile.user from the directory src/MAKE and everything looks fine but when the compilation reaches the below line it stuck and won't continue anymore. I tested the source codes on my personal computer and it worked fine but on the cluster, it won't continue to compile liggghts.
