Hi,
Do you know what is the appropriate pair_style for sand or shale or clay simulation?
Thank you for the response in advance.
Sincerely,
Rasoul

hertz/history with epsd2
hertz/history with epsd2 rolling-friction model.
see "Rolling friction as a technique for modelling particle shape in DEM" (WENSRICH/KATTERFELD in Powder Technology) for details.

Hi Mr. Richti
Hi Mr. Richti,
Thank you for the response. What do you mean by epsd2?
What is your idea about using gran/hertz/history/stiffness?
I don't know why all particles in the simulation domain throw out of the domain while I consider less than 30% T_Re for time step.
Sincerely,
Rasoul

in the Manuel, U can find
in the Manuel, U can find descriptions about the model and also epsd2, that's in the chapter pair_style/gran part. there is also reference papers you can check at the end of the chapter.

Pair/gran/hertz/history works
Pair/gran/hertz/history works pretty well. See this paper for a pretty decent calibration technique:
"Influence of relative density on granular materials behavior: DEM simulations of triaxial tests" by Salot et al 2009.
The last section of the paper describes how some pair interaction parameters affect mechanical responses.
