Hi CFDEM users,
Recently, I am conducting a CFDEM coupling to simulate the flow of smaller fine particles into the porous media under the pressure-driven fluid flow. However, I somehow observed the non-uniform pattern of the fluid flow as in some areas, the fines particles seem stuck and the flow seems less uniform in these areas. I am not sure why this happens? I initially thought that it might due to the communication errors between different processors so I changed the n_processors from 2 2 1 to 4 1 1. However, the problem still persists.
I have attached herewith the animation of the problem that I am facing with.
Can anyone give me any hints or recommendations on how can I proceed further?
Thanks so much.

Mesh refinement
Hello,
What solver are you using? What is the cell size in the filter? Are you using dynamic meshing?

Hi,
Hi,
I am using the solver: cfdemSolverPiso. As you saw in the picture, I have 2 sizes of particles: fine and coarse and my flow direction is in x-direction. So the length of each cell: Lx = 0.06/16, Dmax (fine) = 0.00042 m, and Dmax (coarse) = 0.003. So the length of my cell is about 1.25 times of coarse particles, and about 9 times of fine particles. Do you think my meshing might be the cause of the problem?
For the coarse samples, I have included 2 meshed walls to apply the confining pressures at the top and at the side (+x direction). I have no idea about dynamic meshing. What is the dynamic meshing used for?
If something is not clear, please kindly advise. Thanks so much.
