To determine the protrusion height of a particle partially immersed in liquid

Dear all,

I am working on the numerical implementation of a lateral capillary force model (Kralchevsky, P. A., et al. (1994). Langmuir 10(1): 23-36. Eq. 1.28) into LIGGGHTS, which is a little bit different from the conventional liquid bridge capillary force model which has been implemented in LIGGGHTS.

In the lateral capillary force model, some parameters which I need to know is contact angle, wetting radius, etc. In order to implement this model into LIGGGHTS, I tried to simplify the model, and now I only need to know one parameter, i.e. the protrusion height of a partially immersed particle in liquid.

I read some literature related to this topic, but I failed to find some efficient way to know the protrusion height.

I would like to hear any suggestions from you on this topic.

Regards,
Tian
