Overlap in liggghts

Hi all,

Why is LIGGGHTS calculating everything using OVERLAP methodology while its not applicable in real problems?
As even soft-sphere model assumes that deformation is taken into account for force models.
Why no deformation and only overlap in LIGGGHTS?
Any specific reason for this?

LIGGGHTS is doeing it like all the other DEM codes. If you do not like the DEM method, then just do not use it!
