Using bonds with periodic bondary

Submitted by Ermek Asylbekov on Fri, 06/23/2017 - 09:24

Hi everyone,

I'm using the LIGGGHTS-WITH-BONDS package that was proposed by richti83. It works great even in CFDEM! However if I use periodic boundary all particles that exceed the boundary and reappear on the other side of my geometry lose all their bonds and are calculated as single unbounded particles from there on.
Am I doing something wrong or is it just a limitation of the current model?
Any suggestions or experiences?
Thx and regards

Hi,

I am glad to know you have realized the function of periodic boundary conditions and I am also very interested in that. Could you please give me some clues about how to use periodic boundary conditions coz this can do save much time of calculation. Thanks ahead.

Best,
Rachel

Hey,

If you look at the code you can see that the bond breakage across the domain boundaries is switched on. Simply turn it off and you will be able to proceed with the periodic simulations.

Check the r_break term and bond_list[n][3] and you will be able to debug the code.

Bests,
