Tuning testcase ErgunTestMPI

Submitted by Mallin on Fri, 04/06/2012 - 09:46

Hi,
I recently noted that the file blockMeshDict which is used for rearranging the mesh in CFD part is missing from the directory where it should be placed cfdemSolverPisoCase_shared/ErgunTestMPI/CFD/constant/polyMesh .
There are only mesh files that are already built (and probably refined mesh files) there. Was it done intentionally or is it just lost accidentally? And I'll appreciate if somebody can supply me with this file.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

the file was not lost. The mesh of ErgunTest is not a block structured mesh and was generated from a *.msh (Gambit) file.

If you want to use a different mesh, copy a blockMeshDict from any tutorial, modify the dict and run blockMesh.

Cheers,
Chris

Thank you for your reply. To build a mesh is not a big deal, and meshing procedure may differ for specific cases. Though, I found a script to generate a cylinder mesh (by Rasmus Hemph, http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/openfoam-meshing-blockmesh/61796-help-c...) and slightly modified it to the standards of OpenFOAM v2. I suppose this script may be useful for beginners in CFDEM, who wants to try different scales of fluidized or packed bed.
