Superquadric and bonded particles

Submitted by Schuette on Wed, 04/11/2018 - 13:25

Hey everybody,
right now I'm trying to combine superquadric and bonded particles, but I have problems with the contact model. If I just use "pair_style gran model hertz tangential history rolling_friction epsd2 surface superquadric" as contact model, the bonded particle break. Without "surface superquadric" the bonded particle work but obviously not my superquadric particles, atleast not really. I found the pair_style hybrid command, but I am a little overwhelmed with it. Has someone used the hybrid command and can share me some knowledge or tried bonded and superquadric together and can give me some hints?

Thank you for every bit information.
Greetings,

Hallo Thomas,

1) if you switch off "surface superquadric" then the particles will be represented by their bounding spheres
2) I haver never tried with "hybrid". I suspect it will not work
3) I have never tried superquadrics with the current implementation of bonds in LIGGGHTS-PUBLIC. It can work. Particles as in 1) will be represented by their bounding spheres only.
