SJKR binding forces for superquadric particles.

I am wondering if developers are on their way to implementing SJKR forces on superquadric particles.

This would be really useful for some of my simulations.

Best regards,

There is no easy way to do this as you need to calculate the overlap. I would highly suggest utilizing a full JKR version of a normal model. For example

This is a table based method of the full jkr method in liggghts. This method would also add cohesion when the particles are close to each other while the SJKR methods only operate when there is an overlap between the particles.

Does this mean that the full JKR model does include the contact interactions between superquadrics?

Also, as far as I know Granular Hertzian, or Hookean contact potentials need to calculate overlap. And this is done already in LIGGGTHS for superquadric particles (see Comp. Part. Mech. (2017) 4:101–118).

So with full JKR am I able to capture cohesion between superquadric particles depending on their orientation?
