question about pair_style gran/herzt

Hi, Christoph, i have a question about the difference of pair_style in LIGGGHTS and LAMMPS. As LIGGGHTS manula discribed, the stiffness and damping coefficients in LAMMPS are now derived from the material propeties (e.g. Young's modulus, poisson ratio). Right now i want to derive the material properties (Young's modulus, poisson ratio) from the stiffness an damping coefficients for Hertz model, but the problem is that the overlap distance is unkonwn, so i would like to i could calculate the Young's modulus and poisson ratio if only elastic constant for normal contact and tangential contact are known.

Thanks,
Ada

If you want to do "reverse engineering" in order to mimic constant linear stiffness, you should choose the Hooke model.
Applying some basic math to the Hooke law should give you the right result
