PointSprite representation: Couldn`t build shader program

Hi everybody,

I am trying to visualise data in Paraview using the PointSprite plugin. However, when I switch the Point Sprite Mode to "Sphere", I get the following error message:
"ERROR: in /builddir/build/BUILD/ParaView-v4.0.1-source/VTK/Rendering/OpenGL/vtkOpenGLProperty.cxx, line 407
vtkPointSpriteProperty (0x486f0d0): Couldn`t build the shader program. At this point, it can be an error in a shader or a driver bug."

Since ParaView has not been modified, I guess it has to to with my graphics card or driver. I am running LIGGGHTS 3.0 on a Fedora system, which is on a virtual machine.

Has anyone experienced the same problem? Could it be related to the fact that I am working on a remote connection from a Windows PC?

Hi

I had a similar problem using PointSprite or Glyphs. My crash occurred when setting "Scale by" to the radii of the particles or scaling glyphs to radii.

This problem occured when using a Intel HD 4000 card. When I switched to a better card (AMD Radeon HD 7670) the plugin and glyphs worked fine. I suggest trying another graphics card. Or if you have switchable graphics, enable High Performance for Paraview.
