partcle crosses stl wall

Submitted by tala on Sun, 09/18/2016 - 07:47

I have installed 3.4.0 version of Liggghts, and it did not read my restart file, a segmentation fault error accured.
Then I installed older version 2.3.6. this version had no problem in reading restart file.
however I have other problem with this version: particle crosses the stl walls after some steps.
I also have tried the latest version 3.5.0. but it doesnt read restart file too.
it will be so appreciated if somebody can help me by this matter.

Hi Talat,

we never promise backward compaitbility of a restart file!
Particles crossing walls can have mutiple issues: too soft, too large time-step,...
I suggest you debug your simulation step by step

Good luck & Best wishes!

Dear Christoph,

I have met the similar problem. In my script, if I don't use restart function, there is no problem with its running. However, when I use restart function, the particles don't move. I also fix a move mesh with a constant velocity, while I can see from the results that the stl. moving wall passed acorss the particles. The wall seems to have no effects on particles. I don't know how to prevent such problems, but there is indeed no problem when I fully run my script without write_restart in one script and read_restart in the other script. Could you please help me with this problem~?

Many thanks!
Zheng
