Hi friends,
I found this error in new liggghts-1.1.2. The same file is working in old version without any error.

WARNING: STL face normals were not normalized, normalizing
Mesh calculations running. This may take a while...ERROR: STL import failed because triangles #0 (line 1) and #960 (line 6721) are duplicate
[ram@localhost rect]$

Please anybody there who can figure out the error...?!
Best,
Ram

Hi Ram,

a mesh consistency check was added in version 1.1 - this should improve result quality. Two duplicate triangles do not make sense...

Have a look at the triangles in the STL file - are they duplicate? Send me the STL file by mail and I will have a look...

The warning message is issued if the STL face normals are not normalized. Most CAD programs do this, some do not. If they are not normalized, LIGGGHTS does this and it issues this message (but this is not really bad)

Best,
Christoph

Hi Christoph,
Thanks for help. It is working fine now. I rebuilt the mesh in Maya.
