Can anyone please tell me that is it possible to compile the makefile of liggghts as parallel with VTK installed as serial?

Actually I am trying to
Actually I am trying to install LIGGGHTS with MPICH in CRAY server. As vtk installation is necessary for the installation of lIGGGHTS, I installed vtk-7.1 without MPI and without OPENGL. So I am not sure whether it is sufficient for the installation of LIGGGHTS or not. So can anyone help me to solve my current issue?
