Hi All,
I am running a simple test case by shooting a single particle on an impact plate using different impact angles, velocities and mass.
At all the dependencies of the velocities and the mass are like expected. I just struggle with the results of varying impact angle, because in my case it doensn´t fit with the theoretical results i would expect by finnie. I attached a picture of the results of the simulation for the wear after impact and the curve i would expect for varying impact angles.
Maybe my test script has any general problem. Hence, I also attached my input script and plate stl. I am using version 3.4.1, but also double checked with version 3.6.0. Further for better comparison I neglected dividing by mesh area, because it would give the lost height and not lost volume.
I also checked influence of shear modul, poission, timestep etc. without major changes. The friction coef. mainly influenced wear and the position of the curve, but only for very high coef friction > 1000 the simulation curve would fit the finnie curve, but rebounce without change in direction. I read the pdf of finnie linked to liggghts implementation (fix.mesh.surface.stress) and understand that in each time step force (mass), velocity, angle and eroded mass E are updated and resulting wear of Mesh is the sum of E over all time steps. Even if we use this model just for qualitative wear prediction the graph of the wear after the impact should be same or do i have any wrong assumptions in my mind? Thank you very much for help and discussion.
Cheers
