Error while running 2 tutorials (packedbedtemp & twospheresglowinski)

Submitted by almonds22 on Fri, 10/24/2014 - 08:01

Hi !!

I successfully ran two tutorial cases (erguntestMPI and settlingtestmpi); the coupling works flawlessly!! However, I encountered the following errors when I ran the packedbedtemp and twospheresglowinski tutorial:

For the cfdemsolverpisoscalar - packedbedtemp:

I tried to fix the errors but I still can't get it to work.. for example for the packedbedtutorial, I tried (according to http://www.cfdem.com/forums/installation-cfdem-0) with two different paths for the probes: both postProcessing/probes/0/p and /probes/0/p ..but the error still persists..

Also, the actual computation for erguntestmpi was successful, for post-proc, I used foamToVTK to get the CFD vtk files but the pizza command (cd DEM) failed to generate any VTK files! instead the following error pops up:

......./DEM$ pizza

I use Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS, OpenFOAM 2.1.1 and the latest LIGGGHTS and CFDEMcoupling package from the github rep..running the cfdemSysTest gives ALL valid for both critical and non critical items.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks in advance!!!

The clue to the problem is this:

mpirun was unable to launch the specified application as it could not find an executable:
Executable: cfdemSolverIB

So this solver is either not compiled correctly or the executable is not in the PATH variable.

Please try to check that!

Cheers
Josef

why don't you try to recompile only the solver? if you don't know how to do it: cd ../application/solver/cfdemSolverPisoScalar, wmake
if that doesn't work go in your case folder and try to run commands one by one

Best regards,
Riccardo

Dear all,

Thank you very much for your kind assistance and time. I appreciate it. I utilised wmake , afterwards I ran the tutorials and managed to get the graphs of various simulation results i.e. temperature; the simulation ran smoothly.

However, in regards to post processing, I tried to visualize the particles in paraFoam instead I get the following message:

I tried: python -i /home/.../gran_pizza_1Oct06/src/pizza.py
>d = dump("dump.liggghts_init")
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "", line 1, in
NameError: name 'dump' is not defined
>

I suspect it's to do with the pizza 06 version..but I couldn't find the latest version i.e. pizza 2009 or 2010 anywhere here or any other websites. I recall an earlier post where Christoph mentioned that the older version of pizza works well with python numeric and the newer pizza works well with either numeric or numpy. I have pytn numpy installed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. many thanks in advance!

Lance

Hi Riccardo,

Thank you very much for your reply. I actually downloaded that off github but it didn't work, I did a clean install of lpp together with other components i.e. Pmw, ImageTK, after which I was able to view the results in Paraview!
Thanks again!
