Equations/model for multisphere

Hi everyone,
“What are the equations and forces that are sticking the particles to each other to form a non spherical particle by using multisphere method? what are the forces that keep the constituent particles of a rigid body together?”
and what are the equations of DEM for multishpere because it is in not clear in this link "https://www.cfdem.com/media/DEM/docu/gran_model_hertz.html" that what value of R (radius) is used for multisphere?

thanks in advance
regards

Hi,
there are no forces that stick spheres to each other inside a multisphere particle. A multisphere particle is assumed to be as a rigid body. Relative positions of each sphere are always fixed.

Hi,
i am also confused how hertz model is used for multisphere because hertz model given in cfdem online documentation represents for spherical model.
is there any modification in this model to incorporate multispherical (non spherical) particle? becuase in non spherical (multisphere) particle there is no specific radius or dia given...
i want to know how this DEM code works for non spherical particles.
thanks

Hi,

the Hertz model for multispheres is based on that for single spheres. The total force acting on a multispherical particle is the sum of all forces acting on each sub-sphere.
