Hallo everyone,
I am interested in charged particles and their interaction with an external field. (comparable with the video "Electrostatic" on this website). Can I use the efield command in Liggghts? And how can I define a charged particle (attribute q)?
Thanks for your help. Best wishes
Johannes

Hi Johannes,
Hi Johannes,
yes you can use fix efield to do this!

Charging of particles
Thank you for your quick response, Christoph!
I want to simulate charging / discharging of particles. Do you have any suggestions concerning the implementation of a variable particle charge?

Hi Johannes,
Hi Johannes,
that really depends what kind of "charging" you mean. If you mean tribocharging, you'd have to modify one of the existing contact models to do this - but you'd need a bit of experience in coding w/ LIGGGHTS to accomplish this!
Best wishes!

Hi Christoph,
Hi Christoph,
thanks for your advice. I want to simulate Double Layer charging/ discharging of particles. I think, I will take some heat transfer code (contact models) and go for it.
Best wishes
Johannes
