Hi All,

I am working on DEM-VOF coupling. I am going in the way as cfdemSolverPISO is done. I have added the VOF of OpenFOAM to DEM with no compilation error and no run time error, but do not get expected outcome. I am using test case of "sphere falling in two fluid medium, water and air). I think I haven't set alphaEqn.H correctly to account for voidFraction.

I am referring the article "Extended CFD–DEM for free‐surface flow with multi‐size granules by L. Jing C. Y. Kwok, Y. F. Leung, Y. D. Sobral" . Kindly, Can someone help me in this regard?

Hi All,

1. I got some success but that is not up to the mark. Sphere velocity decreases at it travels through the water phase and I am able to visualize this in Paraview also. However, issue with interface is not resolving. Upon interaction with sphere, interface disturbs but interface does not settle.

2. bigParticle voidFraction method is not working in my case, as divided works.

Recently, I have read the paper, and I want to do something using this coupled method. But I don't have any ideas, can you tell me the details of your work about DEM-VOF coupling? PLEASE~~

Hello Saatt,

I have done some work in DEM-VOF and got a bit of success also, but not finished yet. I can tell you what I understand from the paper and how I did in my work. You give me your e-mail id, I will message you.

For interference I can suggest you to use Level Set approach, I didn't implement this but it is very promised
