Dear All,
with your great help I developed a ring shear test and it works quite well. Thanks again for your help.
Next step I want to develop a fluid saturated shear test. Means I want to couple my LIGGGHTS model with OpenFoam using CFDEM. At the moment I am using a Piso Solver to simulate a fluid phase inbetween the single particles without any motion.
To precompress the shear test I use a servo wall to generate a normal stress of 5e6 Pa (and for the dry case this is working well).
Whenever I start coupling the ring shear test the servo wall in the DEM is moving further down, which is not the case when testing the dry phase only. As a result the particles disappear from the model because of huge forces and overlapping.
Do you have any suggestions how to simulate a smooth/calm water? For a coupled shear test?
I suggest that I need to increase the overall / hydrostatic pressure of the fluid phase to overcome that problem. What do you think? Do you have any suggestions how to increase the pressure?
Best,
Alaska
