about 2D problem

hi, everyone
IncfdemCloud, to calculate the voidfraction, it'll first calculate particle and CFD cell volumes, which defaults to 3d. (also in force model)
When 2d, flow does not have real 'volume'(m^3) and the particles should be disks instead of spheres.

Is it possible to run CFDEMcoupling in 2d mode?
If this could be,
1. which boundary condition should i use for OpenFOAM in z direction (cyclic ,empty, symmetryPlane or something other)?
if use empty boundary condition as usual, how the voidfraction and interaction forces are calculated since the particles are actually spheres(3d) in LIGGGHTS but flow is 2d in OpenFOAM?
(Is this understanding right: When there is only one cell in z direction with boundary conditions set to empty, the flow can be treated as 2d, but actually the flow is 3D (having a real 3d volume) and the properties of flow in z direction are same, which means the flow is quasi-2d)

2. Should the length of z direction in OF same as which in DEM?
