Hi everyone,
First congratulation for LIGGGHTS. The installation was easy and the first example (cohesion) runs very well.
I am a beginner in LAMMPS and I'd like to understand a lot of things to build my DEM simulations.
I hope to be able to integrate my developpments (contact laws, …) into LIGGGHTS in order to perform large simulations.
I have a very specific question: From the user file (example in.cohesion) is it possible to detect the spheres in contact just for the fist time step and to perform the rest of the simulation without contact detection. The simulation will be done using only the interactions (cohesiond) created during the first time step. It permits me to know what it is possible to do from the user
It permits me to know what it is possible to do from the user file.
Thank you for your request.

Re: Contact detection
Hi JF,
welcome!
To answer your question: Yes, this is possible - command is 'neigh_modify once yes'. See the doc pages for neigh_modify for details.
Best,
Christoph

Hi Christoph, Many thanks
Hi Christoph,
Many thanks for your quick reply. Now, I am convinced that LIGGGHTS is the software that I need for my studies.
See you soon on the forum. I'm going to read the doc pages.
Regards
JF
