This question comes often. I wanted to answer it with a picture but pictures in replies are not allowed.
In short, use the calculator filter and calculate the magnitude of the force with its components.
THEN use the tube filter. You can scale the chains using the newly-calculated value

Varying thickness of force chain with magnitue of force
Hi,
Following your procedure, I am able to get the force chains but the thicknesses are not varying with the magnitude of the forces. Do you know what might be the reason? Thanks

Hi,Khan
Hi,Khan
I am having the same confusion. Did you know how to show the width of the lines corresponding to the magnitude of the force chains in paraview ?

CANT DOWNLOAD THE PICTURE
Hi, AndresMM
I have tried to follow your steps but failed.
I find I cannot choose the "scalars" and "vector" (which are both in dark and cannot be chosen).
the picture you put is 404 NOT FOUND
Could you put a new picture about how to show the width of the lines corresponding to the magnitude of the force?
My email: 201916131103@cqu.edu.cn
Many thanks

Hello everyone,
Hello everyone,
I have tried the instructions but the chain thickness is not varying as per the magnitude of the forces.
If anyone has figured it out please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Have you solved the problem?
Have you solved the problem?
I also can't format force chain width depend on their magnitude.
Thanks

Apply CellDatatoPointData
Apply CellDatatoPointData filter on the calculated force magnitude filter and later apply Tube filter to the CDPD filter. Toggle "Vary Radius" property of tube filter to the value -"By scalar". This will allow visualization of tubes with varying radius according to force magnitude.
