Generation of files like restart_forced_liggghts_*.data

Submitted by rahulsoni on Fri, 04/12/2019 - 08:34

Why my liggghts (3.8.0) is generating files named such as restart_forced_liggghts_*.data in the simulation directory. I am working on Ubuntu 18.04.
Any specific significance of these files.

Arno Mayrhofer (DCS ) added a signal handler to LIGGGHTS. Sending SIGUSR1 will result in a restart file being written and SIGTERM or SIGINT in a quitting of LIGGGHTS after a restart file is written (a second signal will kill it immediately).

Can we place it in some folder? Looks cumbersome in the home directory.

depends on how you start liggghts, normaly one changes directory to inputskript folder and starts liggghts there, in this case the restart files are also stored in this folder. when you contrary to this run liggghts in your home folder you'll get the restart files there.
