Reference for Hooke/hysteresis model

Submitted by ZYan on Thu, 04/16/2015 - 11:10

Dear LIGGGHTSers,

What is the reference for the Hooke/hysteresis model implemented in the NORMAL_MODEL_HOOKE_HYSTERESIS.h? i cannot find it in the documentation. Is it the Linear Elastic-palstic Ahhesive model (Luding 2008)? Thank you.
Best regards,
Zyan,

Dear LIGGGHTS community,

I am in need of the reference for the Hooke/Hysteresis model, specifically, the model implemented in LIGGGHTS 3.1.0. This model has been slightly modified from the typical Luding model to include an increase in stiffness (k2) for the compaction case once deltaMax >= delatMaxLim. I believe this slight modification was submitted by a student of a LIGGGHTS user with the username ritchi83. I need this reference for purposes of citing this person's work in a paper.

Thanks in advance,

Sean Garner

Hi Sean,

I'm the supervisor of the mentioned master thesis. The adaption is not an idea of the student. I looked into his documentation and he referenced the model with:
Singh,A.,Magnanimo,V.,Luding,S.: Mesoscale contact models for sticky particles. Universität Twente (UT), Multi Scale Mechanics, Paper, 2013 page 7.

When you are interested I can send you the master thesis, but be warned, it's written in german.
Cheers,
Christian

Hi Christian,

Thank you for the quick response. I would be interested in receiving the master thesis (I don't speak German), but sometimes Google Translate works :)

Regards,

Sean Garner
