I've just started using Ubuntu, and I'm finding it difficult to follow the procedure for installing liggghts, can anyone please guide me through the procedure involved in the installation of liggghts?

at which point of the installation are your problems? Did you use an installation guide or similar?
When you have no experience with Ubuntu/Linux it is helpfull to become familiar with it first. There are thousands of tutorials available online.
I installed my Ubuntu machine by using this installation guide :
