Hi,
If possible can anyone provide the reference of hertz time provided in the LIGGGHTS manual?
dt_h = 2.87*(m_eff^2/(r_eff*Y_eff^2*v_max))^0.2.
Thank you.

Hertz time
Hi Omid,
I have looked into Johnson, 1985 but not seen clearly a direct derivation of critical time dt_h there. Do we need to carry out more mathematical implementation based on the Hertz contact theory discussed in such a book to get dt_h ? Pleas clarify.
Thank you,
Regards,

Many research papers give
Many research papers give reference to Johnson and I could find it.
You might want to look at these too. (same equation as LIGGGHTS reference)

Helpful
Thank very much my friends. These documents are very helpful. Sometimes I see a number of unclear equations (without relevant references) in the Manual of LIGGGHTS. This causes a significant trouble for users.
