Prof. André Katterfeld received his Ph.D. with his work on the functional analysis of tube chain conveyors from the University of Magdeburg, Germany in 2005. In 2009 he was appointed Associate Professor for Continuous Conveying Technology at the Institute for Logistics and Material Handling Systems of the same University. The research group of Prof. Katterfeld is working on the application, calibration and validation of DEM simulations in the field of bulk material handling. Prof. Katterfeld is a guest lecturer at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He is also the co-founder of the CeParTec GmbH which is dedicated to the industrial DEM application.
