A comprehensive tutorial on CDFEM-coupling

Submitted by amitks91 on Sat, 05/06/2017 - 15:40

Hello ,

I am pretty much new member of this community. I have fair experience with LIGGGHTS . Now that I want to solve coupling problems, I am facing problems with using CFDEM-coupling as in how to change the LIGGGHTS input script for CFDEM and which solver to use. It would be of great help if anyone of you can share any information about it.

Thanks a lot
Cheers

Hello Alice,

I am also a beginner.
I just see some examples that come with CFDEMcoupling at download in the following folders:

cfdemPostproc cfdemSolverIB cfdemSolverPiso cfdemSolverPisoScalar cfdemSolverPisoSTM ParScale

but this is not a tutorial. Where can I have an online precise explanation of all the parameters of the simulation
and the commands ??

Thank you for your answer,

Francois

Hello Francois,

all models that are specific to CFDEM(R)coupling and which are used in the cases are explained in the doc section of the downloaded package. Other settings such as the boundary conditions mainly come from OpenFOAM. There is currently no online tutorial for CFDEM(R)coupling cases.

If "trial and error" getting started does not really work for you (or if you are interested in more details anyway) I can recommend to visit one of our courses (see here: https://www.dcs-computing.com/system/files/final_flyer_courses_2018_10_25.pdf), where the next one with availabilities  is held in September.

Cheers,

Alice

Yes, I have seen the tutorials that come with the CFDEMcoupling package.
However what I meant and was looking for is given in the trainings mentioned in the link provided by you.
The training plan is quite upto my requirements. I will have a look into it. Thanks a lot

P.S. - Do you have ,in any case, such programs exclusive for Academia (post-doc candidates, researchers etc.) ?
Cheers

Hello Amit,
good to hear that the training might be what you were looking for! With our trainings we try to reach everyone who is interested in getting started with LIGGGHTS and/or CFDEMcoupling, the participants usually are from all kinds of fields and backgrounds (quite many researchers and PhD students as well).
Cheers,
Alice

Hello Alice,

Is there any way that I can get hold of the course documents for cfdemcoupling and liggghts?

Cheers,
